Access Decherd Court Records

Start with the court named on your citation or case paper. A Decherd court docket search goes through city channels when the case sits in Decherd Municipal Court, but through Franklin County channels when it was filed in General Sessions or Circuit Court. Keep that split in mind. A Decherd Municipal Court case may never appear in a county PDF list, and a payment screen can hide the full case history. Sort out which court holds the file first. That one step makes it far easier to track down the right hearing date, payment record, docket entry, or certified copy of how the case ended.

The city routes court record questions without posting private case data online. Call before you travel, so you can confirm the right counter, current hours, and whether the Decherd record you need is ready.

Inside the Decherd Municipal Court

Decherd's municipal code puts Municipal Court in Title 3, with Title 15 covering motor vehicles. The MTAS listing shows a code update dated June 9, 2025. The code text lays out local rules. It says nothing about what happened in any particular case. For that, you need the court file itself. That means a Decherd docket entry, an order, or a disposition. The city does not publish a current municipal judge or a public court-session schedule. Those details come from the city, not from an old listing. They do not come from another Franklin County municipality either. Some state-law charges get filed in General Sessions instead. Whatever court is printed on the citation controls your first request.

Municipal code
The city's published rules, including its court and motor-vehicle titles.
Docket entry
A dated item showing a setting, filing, action, or result.
Disposition
The recorded outcome, which may be requested in certified form.

Decherd Payment and Record Routes

The city-linked GovernmentWindow page offers a traffic-ticket payment option. It does not spell out the full set of search fields. Decherd's public-records policy opens a separate request path for inspection, copies, dockets, earlier settings, orders, and certified results.

A receipt proves a transaction. It does not prove that Decherd court records show a final disposition, that your appearance was excused, or that no later setting exists. Ask the clerk how payment posts to the municipal file.

Finding Decherd Court Dates

Read your Decherd court date straight from the citation, then check it with the clerk. No universal session date or time is published. The clerk can tell you whether the citation has been entered, whether the setting is still active, and where the appearance will happen.

DateThe active day confirmed from the citation and municipal docket.
TimeThe current start time supplied by Decherd.

Setting TypeThe appearance, hearing, or other recorded event.

A reset is a new setting, not a dismissal. If your paper and an online screen disagree, call 931-962-1675. And never borrow Cowan's afternoon schedule or Huntland's first-Monday schedule for a Decherd matter.

Decherd Records Beyond County PDFs

Franklin County publishes free dated docket PDFs for Circuit and General Sessions. Those files can settle a near-term county schedule question. Still, they will not list every Decherd city setting. Sessions preliminary dockets can change, and the county generally posts them around noon the day before court.

Key distinction: No city result in a county PDF does not mean the Decherd citation or record does not exist. It may be held only by the municipal custodian.

TNCIS is advertised as a subscription system updated nightly at 8 p.m. It covers Circuit and General Sessions information only. Its data is not the official record. A Decherd municipal citation still starts with the city clerk. The exception is a paper that names a county court.

Decherd Traffic Ticket Lookups

A ticket written inside Decherd does not always belong to Decherd Municipal Court. Read the issuing agency and the court line. A municipal or city-code citation goes through the Court & Records Clerk. The city payment channel handles it. A state-law citation naming General Sessions goes through the Franklin County Circuit Court Clerk's Sessions route. Paying and contesting are separate choices. Before using GovernmentWindow, ask whether payment is available and whether an appearance is still required. If you plan to contest, follow the citation and confirm the Decherd court date. A vendor link will not spell out every choice or deadline. When a ticket names a county court, a broader route applies: the Franklin County traffic court record path. Tennessee Driver Services holds your driver history. That history cannot replace the Decherd court file.

Verify Decherd Clerk Listings

Two official sources label the staff differently. The current city contacts page names Kaitlyn Hughes as Court & Records Clerk. GovernmentWindow lists Staci Moore on its Court Clerk contact line. It gives the same 931-962-1675 number, though. The pages may simply update on different cycles. Call that direct number and ask who now handles citations, certified copies, and public-record requests. On a written request, use the office title unless the city confirms the assigned person. That way the discrepancy is preserved rather than resolved by guesswork. Confirming first also keeps a request from landing with the wrong employee. The city can tell you whose municipal role has changed.

How Decherd Cases Reach the County

Decherd Municipal Court stays inside city limits. Franklin County's General Sessions Court takes limited civil matters, misdemeanors, and felony preliminary hearings. Above that sits Circuit Court. It handles the broader civil and criminal caseload, including felony trials across the 12th Judicial District. A case with Decherd ties lands in the county docket only when the law routes it there.

Docket flow: Decherd Municipal Court › Franklin County General Sessions Court › Franklin County Circuit Court

Treat this as a routing sketch. It is not a promise that every city ticket climbs through three courts. The record itself names the court to call first. An appeal or transfer can open a later Franklin County court docket. A plain municipal matter often never leaves the city file. The Franklin County court docket walks through those county channels in detail.

Decherd and County Record Locations

Don't confuse your stops. Decherd city offices sit at 1301 West Main. The Franklin County Judicial Center at 440 George Fraley Parkway in Winchester holds the county's Circuit, General Sessions, Juvenile, and Chancery offices. Pick the wrong building and your date check or copy request stalls. At the counter, ask which office keeps the file. Ask whether you can view it in person, and whether staff must prepare it first. Security rules at the county courthouse say nothing about Decherd's own procedure. The court named on your paperwork is still the best routing clue you have. Confirm the venue, clerk hours, and record availability before you drive anywhere.

Who Can See Decherd Court Records

Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 34 builds the framework for public access to court records, though it leaves room for material that law or court order restricts. Open to the public is not the same as posted online. Decherd court records may still take a direct request to the city's records coordinator.

Key Rules:

Tennessee Supreme Court Rule 34 provides the court-record access framework and identifies limits.

Tennessee Public Records Act guidance describes custodian routing, request channels, response practices, and copy costs.

Tennessee Rule 114 protects juvenile court records and proceedings subject to its terms.

Ask up front which items you may inspect and which stay withheld or redacted. Come prepared with the court, the date range, the citation or case number, and the exact docket, order, payment record, or disposition you need.

Decherd Court Record Requests

The Decherd public-records policy presumes records are open under the Tennessee Public Records Act and spells out a coordinator process. A certified copy is authenticated by whichever office keeps the original. That means a municipal disposition starts at the city, since the Franklin County clerk cannot certify Decherd's paperwork.

  • Name Decherd Municipal Court as the court.
  • Give the citation or case number when known.
  • Add the relevant date or a narrow date range.
  • Describe the docket entry, order, payment record, or disposition.
  • State whether inspection, ordinary copy, or certification is needed.
  • Ask about the current submission route, cost, and delivery.

Franklin County's fee schedule does not bind Decherd's municipal copy charges. Ask the coordinator for current local prices. If access gets limited, request the legal basis and whether a redacted copy could be released instead.
